One Game One Community
05 Nov 2010

This was followed by a match between our hosts for the day, Bracknell Cavaliers, who have just moved up from youth football and the excellent Unity side from Reading who are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year.

The players from Unity were technically more gifted and physically much stronger but not once did they do anything other than offer praise and encouragement to their younger opposition. The game was played in a wonderful spirit from both sides and some of the skills on show would have put many a professional team to shame.

Our hope is that new friends were made on the day and that those involved will look at ways to help each other in the future, not only in footballing terms but in ways to celebrate their diversity.

Thanks for the day must go to Bracknell Cavaliers, especially Barrie Smith, Mike Clothier and Andy Dunbar (not forgetting those who ran the cafe for the day) for stepping in with an excellent venue and facility. Also thank you to the referee for the day, Mr John Scott, the skills coach for the day, Mr Paul Backman and to Deborah Wyatt for all of her community work on the day.

Thank you to the teams, their players and their coaches for ensuring the day was one to remember.
